December 21st 2008 - We got the phone call!

Hi Alexandre,

Your father and I were watching a movie when the phone rang at around 9:30 pm, I did not recognize the number, but did the voice.... it was Dorinda, telling me that you were waiting for us in Vung Tau, and that you will be ready for us in about 3-4 months. Alexandre, I can't tell you how much I have been dreaming of this phone call! Your father and I can't believe that you will be with us in no time!! right now, you are 2 1/2 months old and you are just perfect. Your birthday is September 26th 2008. You have been at the orphanage for 3 weeks now and you are very alert. Now I just can't wait to meet you and show you how much we just love you.

What a dream come true for us Alexandre, as you will be for me "Alexandre the great"

Hi,

Your father and I went to a meeting on October 13th that TDH was holding concerning our trip, as you know we are the next to be called so we want to be prepared in every way ;o) The course was given by Thierry Tranvanthoan and Dre Charo Rodriguez, who both have adopted from Vietnam, in the south region. We really loved all the information they gave us about what to expect, what to do, where to go etc... now, it is only a question of time that we that phone call from Dorinda... We can't wait to have you in our arms!

Hi Alexandre,

Your father and I just came back from the annual Pique-Nique Terre Des Hommes do once a year and it was great!! Dorinda and her husband was there and so was Twee. Twee works for TDH in Vietnam for years and she takes care off all the orphanages from North to South. She is just amazing! But the best part is that I got to talk to her a bit one on one. She told me that your teddy bear Chester is safe and sound in Vietnam and is waiting for you, she also told me that your father and I are next to be called.... WOW.. so that means that we can get a phone call any day now. We are so excited!!

Hi Alexander,

Well, I have two good news to share with you today, first Chantal, Marie-Felix's mom is going to get her in Vietnam in two months. She will be from the south region, Vau Thug. Your father and I are so happy for them as we know that Marie-Felix will be so loved, the second good news is that your grand-father Guy made you a beautiful wooden stool with hearts on each side. I can't wait for you to see it and for you to use it when you will be big.

Everyone loves you so much, even though you are not here yet. We are patiently waiting for you with open arms my little one!

I got you a gift.... your father and I went to Built-A-Bear and got you your very own bear! it is so soft, I can't wait for you to see it. And the best part of it is when you squeeze his right paw he will speak to you. I can't wait for you to see it!

Dorinda is in Vietnam right now and will only be back August 6th but she told me to give her the bear, so now it is in Vietnam and they are just waiting to give it to you. I am hoping you will get it soon!

We named it Chester, as I figured that everyone should have a Chester in there life!

I just received an email from Dorinda.. I always get a bit nervous / excited when I receive emails from her as we just never know what she has to say... but today, Wow, I had to read it twice as it said that we are number 5 for a boy!! Yahoo!!!!!

I can count that on one hand!! LOL - You will be here in no time. I truly believe that Chester is now watching over you and will make sure you will be coming home soon! He will be your guardian angel!

Hi Alexandre,

Today is a sad day as Chester left us, God needed another angel and picked him. If you has ask me, God could not have picked a better angel then Chester.

Chester did so many wooded toys for you before he was with God, I just can't wait for you to see them, he made you a train set, train book ends and a beautiful rocking horse! he loved you so much, even before you were already here.

He would tell all his friends that we were expecting you soon and he could not wait for you to meet them all. Now Chester has another job as he will be your angel, as I am sure he will be watching over you all the time! See you soon Alexandre. Love you!

Well there has been a few emails going around with TDH and the Manager Dorinda, the one that assigns all the children to the parents sent me an email yesterday to let me know that we are not number 8 but 12. I was a bit sad as I can't wait to have you in my arms but I am telling myself that you are taking your time as you want to be ready as well ;o).

I have so much to share with you today.... Your father and I had our last Christmas together as a couple as we know that next year you will be with us and our family will be complete ;o) but I have to say you got spoiled this Christmas, even thou you were not with us physically you were with us spiritually; you received a beautiful stuff dog with a soft matching blanket from your Aunt Josee, then you received a stuffed bear with another matching bear for you to sleep with from your great aunt Micheline Travers, your Aunt Nathalie gave you 3 beautiful sleepers with a matching hat and bib and Cindy gave you a beautiful pewter bubble blower made by Seagull of the shape of a heart, which we can't wait to do with you!! Also, you received a rocking horse, Alexandre, you will love it as it was made especially for you from Chester, he spent so many hours doing this for YOU, I can't wait for you to see it and to try it! You will just love it.

Also more great news, I was reading the TDH site and I believe that we are now number 9 ( give or take ). Dorinda emailed everyone to say that there has been more "proposal" for boys and girls and perhaps more in the beginning of January. Wow, you will be here in no time at all.. your father and I can't wait ;o)

Everytime I write to you I feel closer to you....

I received an email today from Dorinda, she takes care of everything that goes on at TDH ( Terre Des Hommes ) and she is the one that will be calling us with the news of your arrival but today, she told me that we are now number 12 and there might be more at the end of December, so I am keeping my fingers cross that perhaps in January we will be just a one single digit, meaning you will be closer to home.... we are so ready for you Alexandre! your cloths has been all washed, you bed is ready and everyone can't wait to meet you.... Can't wait to have you in my arms...

Another rewarding day!! we finished your bedroom.!! I wish the picture gave it justice, but I am sure you will love it, it is a very soft yellow and blue and the sheer that we bought for your window has stars and moon so when you will be dreaming, you will right with them. Also, I think that we moved up the list and we are now number 12. Yahoo! Can't wait to get that phone call stating that you are ours!! We can't wait to hold you, kiss you and play with you.

Well today was another fun day. We painted your bedroom, your Grand-Father Miron came to help us, it was fun to see your room slowly coming along. Now we are just waiting for the curtains and we need to put up of few shelves. I can't wait to take the picture of your bedroom once it will be finish. I hope you will like it as we do.

October 20th and November 2nd 2007

Went to a Montreal Alouettes football game today with your dad, your Grand-Papa Guy and you aunt Nathalie, even thou our team lost that day, I still left with a big smile on my face, I guess you were on my mind as well as your Grand-papa Guy, as he bought you your first gift, he bought you an Alouettes T-shirt, I guess he will be as proud to see you in it as I will. Also today, being November 2nd, I got some great news, I found out that we are number 16. Each month, day, hour, you are getting close of being home. Can't wait!

We finished our courses at the CLSC, it was great. They really helped us learn so many things and we were so happy. We have meet so many great people that are also adopting and I hope one day that you will have a chance to meet them too! Also, another good news we received today, we found out that we might be at number 18, so I have a feeling in my heart you will be home in no time ;o) - So we better get your bedroom painted and finish a few other things for you... Can't wait to have you home Alexandre!

September 27th and 29th 2007

Boy, we had an exciting two courses at the C.L.S.C. The first one was about grieving, to understand your grieve and ours. We were paying so much attention that I thing we are ready for all the questions you will have for us when you get older. On September 29th, that was a full day course, we talked about what to expected at your age, how you might be with us when we first meet ( nervous, shy, happy, scared ) all the emotions that you might feel and how to deal with them. We also learned about nutrition and what we should be feeding you and what to bring with us to Vietnam. It was a long day but your father and I both found it rewarding. We can't wait for the next course.....

September 21st 2007

Well we have a few new things.... Your father and I went to one of our five course at the C.L.S.C. last night to learn more things about adoption and we enjoyed it so much that we can't wait for the next course. We also meet other great families that are also adopting. BUT the best news today is I called Dorinda at TDH and she able to tell us where we stood, and she told us that we are number 20 - meaning that we will be getting your picture very soon. We are so excited. Now I just can't wait to paint your bedroom and get things even more ready for you.

September 5th and September 10

We received the papers on September 5th and on September 10th we were at TDH giving them all want they needed from us to make the process go faster. Your father and I are very excited to have you here, they told us between 7-9 months. Yahoo!!

We just received ALL the paper work from Batshaw!

We are so excited, we just received the documents from Batshaw stating that we have been approved! - Now we will be going to TDH ( Terre des Hommes ) to give them all what they need. We are so excited. We are getting closer of getting you home!!

Yahoo!! we had our last meeting with Lisa Couture and she told us that we will make great parents and that she has no doubt in her mind that you will be well taken care off! I promised her that when you will be old enough for car rides we will go and visit her. I am sure she is like me and can't wait to meet you!!

One more meeting to go.... we had our 5th meeting now with Lisa Couture and I have say that it went well, they all did. She asked a lot of questions about how will be taking care of you in so many aspect and your father and I always came back with; we will love him, respect him and let him be who he wants to be. We will give him guidance when he will need it and show him respect as he will respect others. We just can't wait to have our last meeting with Lisa to close our file with Batshaw. Then we will be on the list they call " Propostion" at Terre des Hommes. We just can't wait to have you here with us and in our arms.

We had our 4th meeting with Lisa Couture about you today. She came to the house this time and visited our home and your room. I think she liked it, she also liked that I had a "special" book waiting for you. This book will be about us, you and your journey. I am looking forward of starting to write in it.

Your father and I went to look at your new bed today, it is a beautiful antique blue and I just feel in love with it when I saw it. Your Grand-mother "Mamie Bastien" was with us when we went to look at it and she loved it too. Enough for her to buy you your first gift, the crib and the dresser. Then we went to the paint store and found a beautiful soft yellow to paint your room. I really hope you will like it too. But I have to say that we were so excited to get your crib that we installed it right away!! ;o)

Your Father and I had a meeting again with Lisa Couture, your father’s meeting lasted one hour, mine was a bit long, and I guess it would be safe to say that it was close to 2 hours. I guess I had a lot to say and Lisa had a lot of questions about my past, my family and she wondered how my life would change, and I really had only one answer to this, and it was for the better. As we have not meet you yet but I am already in love with you and I can’t wait to hold you in my arms. We have another meeting July 23rd; she will be coming to the house. Can’t wait ….

July 4th

At 3:30 we meet Lisa Couture, we had our first meeting that lasted just over an hour and she could see the love we had for you at that moment, so she scheduled another 3 appointments right away. July 11th, your father has one at 3:30pm and I have one at 7:00pm that evening and the other one will be July 23rd, she will be coming to our home to see what kind of environment you will be living in… I can tell you right now, the environment you will be in, is one that you will be loved, protected, you will grow and you will be happy….As we love you already my little Alexandre.

We meet Nancy Paquet and she gave us a name of the person who will be doing our “home study” her name was Lisa Couture. We look forward of meeting with her. Nancy also told us that we will have 6 meetings with Lisa, and we are looking forward to them all.

We had to great pleasure of meeting your doctor ( Dr. Long ) and his associate Thuy, which they will examine you and take care of you before your father and I come and get you. We had the pleasure of meeting them in China town at a restaurant called Dim Sum. It was beautiful to see all the other parents with the children from Vietnam.

Went to uncle Luc’s for your grand-mother’s B-day party, everyone was there, Aunt Nathalie, Uncle Pat and your cousin, Paolo (13) and Julian (16), then there was uncle Luc’s wife aunt Sandra and your other cousin’s, Mark (2), Isabelle (5), Mathew (8) and Victoria (10), we all sat around the patio table and we announced to your grand-mother Bastien that we were going away on a trip, they all tried to guess where, but how little did they know that we were going to Vietnam, to pick up YOU, are little bundle of joy. Your grand-mother stated to cry of happiness and your Aunt Sandra went to get some champagne, it was amazing to see all the love everyone had for you already! How lucky we are to have such a great family!

We went to your Aunt Francine and Uncle Carl for your grand-mother Proulx B-day. And we announced to everyone that will be adopting a boy, we did not have any names yet for you, but we knew that we would love you right away, Uncle Norman was there with aunt Josee, Aunt France was there but unfortunately your uncle Brian could not make it. Your cousin Adam (23) and his girlfriend Cathy (21) was there with your second Nephew Anthony (1 year old ). Everyone was so happy and excited. Your Grand-father Proulx seemed proud.

February 7th

I found a great adoption agency called Terre Des Hommes and I found Nadia, Christine and Dorinda that helped me with my primary application to be on the list of SAI ( Sociation Adoption International), we were number 26 on the list for a boy ( for you)

I called almost each week to see if my number was slowly going down, and it was, it went from 26 to 16 to 7… - Your father and I were both so excited.
